Paladin Security

A Celebration of Life - The Paladin Pipeline - June 2011

Each and every day, Paladin Security Officers across the country make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Many even save lives and some are honoured for their heroic efforts, as was the case with S/Os Leonard Crystoval and Pat Harris in Winnipeg who recently saved the life of a young boy at the Red River Exhibition.

The boy in question was eight year old Jared Jamz who was eating a hotdog with his father when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest and collapsed. Our Paladin Security Officers were the first on scene and used their extensive training to provide the boy with vital First Aid, performing CPR for over fifteen minutes before paramedics arrived.

Hospital staff attributed the boy’s survival to the tireless efforts of our Officers, who were thanked at the recent Celebration of Life Awards at Winnipeg City Hall. Minister of Health, Theresa Oswald, presented our team with their prestigious award and thanked them for their dedication and quick-thinking in what must have been a very stressful situation at the Exhibition, which is the biggest summer fair in Manitoba.

The third annual Celebration of Life Awards ceremony and luncheon recognizes local heroes and provides an opportunity to showcase a small sample of the great work done by those serving the public daily, said Jim Brennan, Winnipeg’s fire paramedic service chief.
